MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: LG WM6700HBA

The exact LG WM6700HBA LCD manual documents named water, door, motor, sensor and ezDispense faults for this 5.0-cu-ft Black Steel washer.

Identify the WM6700HBA and read its LCD

WM6700HBA is LG's Black Steel, 5.0-cubic-foot front-load washer, with 25 cycles and 19 options in its exact product specification. The official support page for WM6700HBA.ABLEEUS links the owner's manual whose cover explicitly includes WM6700H*A. This matters because the manual also covers WM5700H*A: use the 6700 product specification to establish this machine's ezDispense cartridge, TurboWash 360, steam capability, and matching DLEX6700B or DLGX6701B dryer before applying any shared instruction. The capacity and cycle list describe this washer, not every appliance pictured in a family document.

The rendered control diagram shows a selector dial with a small screen, a wider status display, Power, Start/Pause, temperature, spin, soil and option controls. The LCD reports settings, estimated time and messages. Its separate door-lock, Wi-Fi, Remote Start and Control Lock indicators report operating states; their presence alone does not mean a fault. This edition of the manual prints faults as words such as “Water supply” and “Drainage,” rather than promising that an older LG IE or OE letter code will appear. Read the exact phrase on this panel before following a repair path.

Choose a cycle that will not create a false alarm

Normal is for everyday mixed items, while AI Wash adjusts patterns after sensing the load. Bedding keeps bulky pieces together; the manual warns against mixing bedding with ordinary small garments. Quick Wash is intended for only two or three lightly soiled articles under three pounds and calls for very little detergent. Heavy Duty may pause its agitation for two minutes or more as part of its design. Such a pause should be interpreted in the context of the selected cycle, not immediately mistaken for a motor failure.

An “Unbalance” message has a practical loading context. A single tiny item, tangled pieces or a mixture of very heavy and light articles can prevent even distribution before spin. Add similar items to a too-small load or rearrange tangled laundry after the door can safely open. The 6700 specification lists a maximum 1,300-rpm spin; that number does not mean every fabric should be spun at that speed. Delicates, bedding and hand-washable wool have their own defaults and permitted settings, so match spin and temperature to the garment and the cycle guide.

Understand ezDispense before treating its messages as faults

The ezDispense system is a major difference from a basic four-tray washer. The larger reservoir takes liquid HE detergent and the smaller one liquid softener; the manual describes default doses and lets you adjust the amount for a single load. Powder, bleach, sheets and detergent packs do not belong in these reservoirs. If you need a special powder or a one-time product, turn the relevant automatic dispenser off and use the manual compartment or put a single-use pack in the empty drum as directed. Closing the drawer gently also avoids premature overflow between compartments.

“Check det. Tank” or “Check soft. Tank” means the relevant liquid level has not dropped as expected; product that has sat too long can harden. The manual directs you to clean the reservoir, refill it and run a cycle, then request service if the warning persists. “No detergent,” “No softener” and “ezDispense error” instead identify an automatic injection problem for service. “Drawer open” asks you to push the dispenser completely shut before seeking help if it repeatedly returns. The cleaning chapter recommends washing the reservoirs when refilling or changing products and cleaning the drawer once or twice monthly.

Separate a water-supply message from a drainage message

For “Water supply,” start with both taps fully open, hoses free of pinching and the household pressure. The manual warns that leak-limiting hoses can shut off falsely. Inlet filter screens can clog with sediment or scale; it describes turning off the machine and taps, removing the hoses, cleaning and reinstalling the screens, then flushing the hoses before reconnection. Never run the washer with those protective filters removed. A supply message after this work, especially with inadequate pressure elsewhere in the home, may require plumbing or service rather than more changes to the wash cycle.

“Drainage” points to a different route: check the drain hose for kinks, compression or clogging and compare its outlet height with the manual's maximum of 96 inches above the washer base. The drain pump filter can also retain foreign objects. The maintenance procedure begins by unplugging the washer and draining remaining water through its small hose before opening the filter, so prepare for retained water. Cleaning an inlet screen will not solve an obstructed outlet, and repeatedly choosing Spin Only cannot fix a blocked pump. Follow the message's location before dismantling any water connection.

Know when the LCD calls for service

“Door open” and “Door unlocked” are distinct: one reports an open door, the other a door that is not secured. Check the seal area for trapped clothing, close the door and follow the manual's service advice if the phrase persists. “No water detected” points to the water-level sensor; “Water too high” can involve a faulty valve. For those level faults the manual says to shut the faucets, unplug the washer and call for service. A “Motor error” allows a 30-minute rest and one restart, with service if it returns.

The second fault page names “No temp detected,” vibration and turbidity sensor faults, a steam fault, voltage abnormality and power failure. It gives a 60-minute unplugged interval for the control-temperature message, while a recurrent voltage warning or sensor malfunction calls for service. “Freeze error” directs you to the cold-climate care instructions. “Oversudsing” points to excess detergent and can trigger a long foam-reduction cycle; dose reduction matters more than repeatedly restarting. These messages belong to this LCD/manual combination, and routine Wi-Fi, Control Lock or Remote Start lights should not be turned into invented error codes.
