MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: Samsung MC35R8088LC/EF

Samsung MC35R8088LC/EF 35-litre HotBlast combination microwave: matched French owner manual, cooking modes, steam vessel and six information codes.

Identify the French 35-litre model and its physical setup

The Samsung France product identifies MC35R8088LC/EF as a 35-litre countertop combination microwave, with a 900-watt microwave output and a touch-control display. Its linked owner manual has a family cover, MC35R8088**, rather than spelling out every finish and market suffix. The exact /EF support page supplies that manual, while the manual's 35-litre and 900-watt specification agrees with the product. Check the entire suffix when matching an appliance to this guide. The control drawing shows a function area, display, up and down controls, OK, Back, a temperature or power key, a turntable key, START, STOP and Child Lock. Position the roller ring and glass turntable before cooking. The installation drawing calls for 10 centimetres behind and at both sides and 20 centimetres above the unit. Those clearances matter especially when the convection heater and fan are used. The manual identifies the Pro Steamer as an accessory for MC35R8088L* models, which covers this LC variant; check the supplied parts before following a steam recipe.

Choose the heating mode before choosing a rack

HotBlast is a high-airflow heated mode with a 160–230 °C range; ordinary convection covers 40–230 °C. The manual warns against using HotBlast for bread or pastry because the stronger surface heat may burn it. Combination convection adds microwave energy to the hot air and offers a separate temperature and power setting, while plain Microwave uses selectable output from 100 to 900 watts. A short full-power microwave start is available by selecting Microwave and pressing START. Grill and grill combination have their own controls and rack instructions. The lower rack is used with HotBlast and convection; the upper rack is specified for grill cooking. Do not carry the metal racks into plain microwave mode, even if they were safe during a grill or convection program. For a combined microwave and heated-air dish, use cookware that is suitable for the oven and lacks metallic decoration, following the mode-specific directions. This distinction explains why a spark or poor browning may call for checking the vessel and mode before suspecting the electronics.

Separate automatic programs, steam and keeping food warm

Automatic HotBlast provides ten numbered programs, and the other automatic cooking family has twenty-five. Rapid Defrost is a third automatic family with five programs. In each case the controls select a program and then a portion size or weight, rather than asking for a manual cooking time; the preprogrammed time cannot be adjusted in that mode. The manual also describes a Keep Warm function driven by the convection heater. It is intended for food already cooked, with a temperature choice of 50–80 °C and a limit of three hours, not for bringing a cold meal up to serving temperature. The Pro Steamer makes another useful distinction. It is listed for MC35R8088L* models, and the instructions put at least 500 millilitres of cold water in its vessel, then direct the user to the Microwave setting. The metal lid belongs to this specified steamer assembly; it is not permission to place an arbitrary metal bowl in microwave mode. The steam guide gives food-specific times, while the caution requires the assembled lid and careful handling after cooking.

Read the display state before diagnosing a failure

Set the clock with the arrows and OK after first powering the appliance. The manual allows key sounds to be turned off while the oven is in standby, so silence by itself does not establish a broken keypad. Child Lock is toggled by holding its key for three seconds, also in standby. After inactivity, the display can move through standby and an off state; an unlit or reduced display should therefore be interpreted with the current power and Eco settings in mind. During manual cooking, STOP once halts the operation and twice cancels the current mode. A hot oven may keep cooling for several minutes after cooking; a fan still heard immediately afterward can be normal. If there is no information code, the troubleshooting table checks for moisture on the touch panel, debris between keys, Child Lock, a power supply and a fully closed door. The same table asks for the cooling fan and ventilation clearances to be checked when a long run stops. These observations give a useful service report without opening the housing.

Use the six codes printed for this family

The French owner table lists C-20 for an open or shorted temperature sensor, C-A1 when the oven does not detect the damper opening or closing within one minute, and C-F0 for lost communication between the main and secondary MICOM. For these three, Samsung instructs users to disconnect power and contact a local service centre. C-21 indicates oven temperature above its permitted operating limit; the manual says to unplug, allow adequate cooling and restart. C-F2 and C-d0 share a touch-key malfunction description in the printed table. For C-F2, press STOP and retry. For C-d0, unplug and cool the appliance, clean dust or water around the button, and contact Samsung if the problem returns. The table does not give C-d0 a more specific component diagnosis. Record the exact characters, chosen cooking mode and what the display did before contacting service. Generic Samsung error lists contain additional codes, but this owner's table is the applicable source for this /EF model.
