MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: LG WT7150CW
The white LG WT7150CW top-loader has an eight-program rear panel and documented lid, inlet, outlet, sensor, clutch and motor fault codes.
Identify the rear-control top-loader
WT7150CW is LG's white, rear-control top-loading washer with a 5.0-cubic-foot stainless-steel tub, not a front-door machine. The official specification gives its white UPC as 048231028431 and names DLE7150W as the matching electric dryer. Its controls sit behind a transparent SlamProof glass lid: a central cycle dial, a small two-digit display, temperature, spin and soil buttons, and option buttons to the right. This arrangement matters when following an error-code article because the relevant closure is the lid and its latch.
The eight printed selections are Normal, Heavy Duty, Deep Wash, Waterproof, Bedding, Delicates, Speed Wash and Tub Clean. LG lists TurboDrum, 6Motion, an inverter direct-drive motor and an 800-rpm maximum spin for this exact white model. The cabinet is 27 5/8 inches wide, 44 1/2 inches high and 28 3/8 inches deep; opening the lid requires 57 1/5 inches of height. These specifications help distinguish this rear-console washer from similarly named front-load models before applying any troubleshooting advice.
Match the program to the load
Normal covers common cotton, linen, shirts and mixed everyday items. Deep Wash uses more water where the regular level is unsuitable, while Water Plus selected during Normal changes the cycle to Deep Wash before the wash begins. Heavy Duty includes pauses for soaking that the manual calls part of its design, so a brief still period there is not automatically a motor failure. The three selectable temperatures are Hot, Warm and Cold, and the three spin speeds are High, Medium and Low; available combinations depend on the chosen program.
Waterproof is the dedicated choice for water-resistant clothing, mattress covers and similar articles; LG cautions against mixing waterproof and ordinary pieces in that cycle. Bedding likewise keeps buoyant pillows, comforters and bedding together rather than mixing them with unrelated laundry. Speed Wash is for a small lightly soiled load and calls for very little detergent. A top-loading tub needs room for items to move: do not press clothing down or load above the fill line simply because the five-cubic-foot capacity looks generous.
Read the normal display before diagnosing a fault
After Start/Pause, the washer briefly moves the load without water to estimate its weight. The remaining time may change after sensing and is only an estimate. Wash, Rinse and Spin lights show the current stage; the Add Garments light marks the period when pausing to add an item is allowed. A lid-lock sound is a normal part of startup. Extra water later in a cycle can also be ordinary balancing or rinsing behavior rather than evidence that the inlet valve is stuck open.
Several short messages in the troubleshooting table are informational. CL means Control Lock is enabled. The displayed dr says the special drain feature is running after the washer has been paused for more than four minutes; the manual explicitly says it is not an error code. tcL is the prompt to run Tub Clean, and ub indicates that the machine is adding water and trying to rebalance a load automatically. If ub persists and turns into UE, then redistribute tangled articles or combine light pieces of similar weight.
Follow the code to the affected component
IE directs attention to incoming water: open both taps fully, straighten pinched hoses and clean clogged inlet screens. An unusually low drain-hose end can also cause IE because water siphons away before the tub fills; LG sets the lower reference at 29.5 inches above the washer bottom. OE instead concerns water leaving the tub. Check a crushed or blocked drain hose and a hose end set above 96 inches. This distinction avoids treating every slow fill or emptying complaint as the same plumbing problem.
dE means the lid is not closed properly; dL means it has not locked. Check for clothing or packing material under the lid before seeking service for a recurring latch error. LE1 is particularly specific to this top-loader: a coin, pin or clip may be trapped between the pulsator and inner tub. The manual tells you to drain and spin, empty the tub and remove the object. UE reports a load that remains unbalanced. tE refers to a temperature or control error, FE to excess water from a faulty valve, and PE to the water-level sensor; the last two call for closing the taps, unplugging and arranging service.
Maintain the water path and recognize service faults
The remaining documented fault messages deserve different responses. LE is a motor locked error: allow the washer to stand for 30 minutes and retry once, then seek service if it repeats. Eb identifies a clutch mechanical failure, for which LG says to unplug and call service. Ps says the supply voltage is incorrect and also calls for service. Do not label CL, dr or tcL as repair codes, and do not infer front-load pump-filter instructions from another LG manual; this owner's booklet describes the WT7150C* top-loader and its own panel.
Preventive checks follow directly from the code table. Empty pockets to reduce the chance of LE1 objects, distribute bulky loads so UE is less likely, and leave both water taps open for IE troubleshooting. LG calls for cleaning the inlet filters if the supply is restricted, and for using high-efficiency detergent rather than overfilling its three-tray dispenser. Running Tub Clean when tcL appears addresses residue in the tub. These steps are tied to this machine's lid, pulsator, water paths and electronic display, not generic washer symptoms.
