MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: LG SDWD24P3

LG STUDIO SDWD24P3: exact manual, top display and verified IE/OE/bE/AE/FE/HE/tE/LE/NE faults.

Identify the Studio dishwasher and its panel

SDWD24P3 belongs to LG STUDIO’s panel ready line, with controls hidden along the door top and a numerical display in that same strip. The official owner PDF prints SDWD24P3 on its cover, so the panel drawing and fault table are tied directly to this model rather than borrowed from a neighboring LG family. The separate specification gives fourteen place settings and 45 dBA operation. A height adjustable third rack, three spray arms, QuadWash and TrueSteam shape how loads are arranged and cleaned. LG’s ThinQ connection is reflected by a Wi-Fi lamp in the control diagram; it is not the same as a fault indicator. When confirming an appliance in a kitchen, check the rating plate and the top-row layout against owner page 28. A panel ready front may wear a cabinet panel chosen by the installer, so the visible door finish is a poorer identifier than the model number and actual control row.

Set water hardness before diagnosing a message

This Studio dishwasher adds a water softener, which makes several display values easy to misread. Owner page 25 maps the local water hardness to H0, H1, H2, H3 or H4; the initial factory setting is H2. You can ask the water utility for a hardness result or use the supplied test strip, then follow the setting steps on page 26. Power and Half Load are pressed together to inspect the level, Remote Start advances the value, and Start saves it. Those H values are configuration states, explicitly listed as non-errors on page 53. A flashing Salt Refill lamp has a different role: it calls for dishwasher salt in the softener container. At H0 the lamp is suppressed even if the container is empty. After a refill the manual calls for an empty Rinse cycle to wash away salt residue that could corrode the tub. Never put wash detergent into that container, and do not translate H2 into a heater fault merely because a letter H also appears in the genuine HE code.

Read cycle and end-of-cycle states correctly

The ten wash cycles and nine options on the exact specification give context to ordinary messages. Heavy and Delicate handle different loads, while Refresh warms long-unused dishes without detergent. Turbo cleans quickly but does not include drying by itself; choose Extra Dry when that result is needed. Dual Zone intentionally gives gentler spray above and stronger spray below. Auto Open Dry can open the door at the end of a drying cycle, and the manual explains that it does not operate with Rinse. The top display normally shows estimated time, may show hours for Delay Start, and shows ENd after a completed cycle until the door opens or Power is pressed. The Machine Clean lamp flashes every thirty cycles as a maintenance reminder; low rinse aid and low salt have their own indicators. CL means Control Lock. P1 through P4 denote downloaded cycle selection. None belongs in the fault list. If Start is pressed while the door is open, close it within four seconds; an alert after that window means the cycle did not start, not that a pump failed.

Check inlet, drain and foam causes

For an actual IE message, begin with the inlet side: check household supply and whether the inlet hose is frozen, folded or blocked. OE directs attention to the discharge side instead. The manual names a restricted drain hose, the external air gap or garbage disposal, and clogged internal filters. Its maintenance instructions say to remove trapped food and clean the filter after each load; reinstall the assembly until it clicks. These checks differ from the white mineral film addressed by the softener settings. bE is also a separate fault: LG lists excess suds from unsuitable detergent and a dishwasher that has not been leveled. Use detergent designed for an automatic dishwasher and inspect the installation before assuming a defective motor. Photograph the exact mixed-case letters on the display, not a guess based on a slow cycle. Note whether the problem appeared during filling, draining or after detergent was added. That sequence helps a technician while keeping symptoms and documented codes distinct.

Treat leak and component faults as service cases

AE is the water leakage entry. The owner table directs you to shut off the supply and contact LG; it warns that the machine can sound an alert and run its drain pump intermittently as protection, even after a power-off attempt. FE means excessive supplied water, while HE is a heater circuit fault. The lowercase t in tE belongs to the water temperature sensor label; LE concerns the wash motor and NE the Vario motor. For these component and supply faults the manual gives a service contact rather than a home electrical repair recipe. Do not infer that every water puddle is AE if the panel has not actually displayed it. Likewise, a hot-water delay does not equal HE. Keep the appliance model, actual characters and a description of water seen around the unit together when requesting help. The exact error table occupies pages 52 and 53, and it labels hardness, downloaded cycles, rinse setting, test mode and CL separately so ordinary operation is not mistaken for another failure.
