MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: LG LDFN3432T
LG LDFN3432T front-control dishwasher: verified IE/OE and leak codes, cycles, and care.
Identify the compact front-control layout
LDFN3432T is LG's stainless front-control dishwasher, identified on its own product page and exact builder sheet. The product claims fifteen place settings and 50 dB operation. QuadWash describes spray coverage from several directions, while Dynamic Dry uses a two-stage fan after washing; neither name by itself tells you which cycle is selected. The NeveRust stainless tub is a construction detail, not a cure for residue on poorly spaced dishes. The exact specification lists an upper rack, lower rack and cutlery basket, with no third rack; the owner PDF depicts the same basic loading levels under its LDFN343 family cover. The sheet also says Wi-Fi and ThinQ are absent. Owners should therefore use the controls on the appliance, not expect an app notification to explain a code. Check the full rating label before buying a replacement part, since the family manual spans variants.
Read the panel before diagnosing a fault
The front drawing in the linked manual shows a numeric display rather than the cycle-only indicator arrangement of a dial machine. It normally reports estimated time; with Delay Start it reports hours, and that delay can be set from one to twelve hours. Pressing Start and closing the door within four seconds matters: waiting longer produces a flashing time display and tone without starting the wash. A finished program shows ENd. CL means Control Lock, which blocks panel changes but does not latch the door; Flex Zone and High Temp held together release it. A Machine Clean icon can flash after thirty cycles. Rinse-aid setting values and test-mode strings are also listed as non-errors. Note the exact letters before resetting the machine: a time, CL, ENd and IE mean different things even though each appears in the same display window.
Choose a cycle with its drying behavior in mind
The specification lists five cycles: Auto, Heavy, Normal, Turbo and Machine Clean. Auto senses soil; Heavy is intended for hardened residue, while Normal covers an ordinary full load. Turbo targets heavily soiled dishes in about an hour but explicitly omits drying, so wet dishes after that cycle do not establish a heater fault. Extra Dry raises the heated rinse temperature and adds drying time; Night Dry periodically runs the fan when dishes sit in the closed tub. Machine Clean belongs to an empty dishwasher and addresses film and odor, not a small breakfast load. Flex Zone can direct stronger washing to the lower rack or select an upper-rack-only pattern. Those settings explain why two loads may finish with different moisture and duration even though the same fault code table applies to both. The precise cycle and options are useful context for troubleshooting.
Installation affects a later error message
The owner manual specifies a 20 to 80 psi inlet pressure and tells installers not to run the drain farther than twelve feet. A kinked drain hose or an unremoved disposal knockout can create a drainage complaint without any broken pump. Leveling is equally relevant: LG warns that an unsupported or tilted tub can leak at the front and even produce AE. This is why a newly installed machine showing an error deserves an installation check before parts are ordered. Household users can inspect visible hose bends, water supply and the air gap while following the manual's safety directions. Electrical connections and winterization belong to qualified personnel. None of these numbers should be treated as a promise that every installation is safe; the actual cabinet opening, drainage height and local plumbing must be checked against the instructions.
Separate inlet, drain and suds faults
The first water-related code to separate is IE, which LG labels a water-inlet problem. Check that the supply is open and look for a clogged, frozen or bent inlet hose. OE instead identifies drainage trouble; the manual points to the outlet hose, air gap or disposal and filters. Cleaning the filter will not fix a closed supply valve, and opening the supply will not remove a clogged drain. bE has yet another cause: excess foam from hand dish soap or foamy food, or an unlevel appliance. Only detergent intended for automatic dishwashers belongs in the dispenser. The PDF specifically warns that Control Lock and rinse-aid adjustment strings are not faults. Taking a clear photo of the code and checking which stage of the cycle stopped helps distinguish a genuine IE or OE from an ordinary setting shown on the front panel.
Treat leakage and component codes as service signals
AE is the leakage message in the LG table. Close the water supply and contact LG; the manual notes that the drain pump can run intermittently and the dishwasher may power itself back on while AE remains active. FE means excessive water supplied and also calls for customer service rather than repeated restarts. Four further messages identify component-level faults: HE concerns the heater circuit, tE the water temperature sensor, LE the wash motor and nE the Vario motor. The manual sends each of those to LG service, so a brief reset is not evidence that a failed component has been repaired. This front-control model has visible codes, but they do not all justify the same action. Record the code exactly, stop a suspected leak at the supply, and pass the model number and observed message to the technician. That preserves the difference between an owner-level hose check and internal electrical or motor diagnosis.
