MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: LG DLHC4002B
The LG DLHC4002B is a black 7.8-cu-ft ventless heat-pump dryer with a true owner-manual fault table for motor, fan, drainage, power, cover and filter problems.
The black ventless heat-pump model
The DLHC4002B is LG's Black Steel version of the 7.8-cu-ft electric heat-pump dryer. Its official two-page specification names this exact suffix beside the white DLHC4002W, so the colour and capacity are model facts rather than deductions from a family manual. It is a 27-inch-wide front-loading machine with a ventless design and a Dual Inverter HeatPump. The absence of an outdoor exhaust duct changes the installation question: the owner must plan for electrical supply, room conditions, clearances and water handling, rather than assume that an ordinary vented dryer outlet is sufficient.
The same specification lists 240 V at 830 W or 208 V at 820 W on a 15 A circuit, a 12-program dial, an LED display and touch buttons. It explicitly says there is no steam function and that the door is not reversible. Those details matter when comparing this dryer with a conventional electric model that has a heating element and an external vent. The document also lists a stainless-steel drum, four adjustable feet and a 7.8-cu-ft volume. Its named accessories include a stacking kit and pedestal, but the installation manual should still govern a real installation and the correct kit must be checked before purchase.
Controls, programs and ordinary indicators
The linked owner's manual carries the DLHC4002* family name on its cover. Its page 27 illustration shows the front dial, Power and Start/Pause buttons, cycle-modifier buttons and time/status display that fit the exact product specification. Turning the dial selects a program, after which the display shows default settings. Page 28 distinguishes a Condenser Clean icon, shown while water is sprayed on the condenser, from the Clean Filter reminder that appears every time the machine is switched on and goes away after Start/Pause. Neither is, by itself, a fault code.
Program choice is unusually relevant for a heat-pump dryer. The manual describes Normal for mixed everyday cotton and linen, Heavy Duty for robust garments, Bedding for bulky textiles, Power Dry as a high-temperature program, and Shrinkage Relief as a program that adjusts motion, dryness and temperature. It also lists Silent Dry, AI Dry, Delicates, Perm. Press, Towels and Small Load, the last of which is limited to three items. Condenser Care is a dedicated water-based cleaning program, whereas Dry Time lets the user set a timed run. Energy Saver lowers temperature and lengthens drying; Speed aims for a shorter run. The selected cycle determines which modifiers are actually available, so a double chime after a rejected choice can simply mean an incompatible setting.
The real error table and what it separates
Page 45 is the useful diagnostic page. It explicitly describes an automatic error-monitoring system and maps display labels to causes and first actions. LE1 is a suddenly stopped motor: the manual says to check excessive load, then disconnect power and seek service. LE3 identifies a suddenly stopped fan motor; CC means the condenser cover is absent, so the access panel and cover assembly should be checked. PS points to an incorrect power-cord connection at the terminal block, a task that calls for qualified electrical attention. IF means the lint filter has not been installed. These are distinct from the normal filter-clean reminder on page 28.
The same table groups temperature-sensor failures, a sudden drum-temperature rise, stopped-compressor labels, and OE or drN for drainage trouble. For the drain message, the manual starts with the hose connection, kinks and pinching; it also lists a pump fault and freezing installation conditions as possible causes. It recommends an ambient installation range of 41–95 °F. The seven-segment font makes a few alphanumeric labels easy to confuse in extracted text, so the actual display and the rendered manual should be compared before treating a similar-looking character as a separate code. The article does not turn a general symptom such as slow drying into a fabricated display message.
Practical checks before service
The owner's operating sequence starts by removing lint from the filter and reinstalling it securely. Then the load should sit inside the drum rather than against the door seal, and the chosen cycle can be adjusted before Start/Pause. A level, solid floor matters because the manual says unevenness can interfere with tumbling and automatic sensing. A cool installation area also lengthens drying and can affect the automatic cycle. These checks give the user context when the machine appears to run but finishes late; they do not override a motor, compressor or temperature-sensor fault that calls for service.
For a drainage alert, inspect the visible hose route and connection before attempting deeper work. For CC, replace the condenser cover fully; the maintenance chapter warns that incomplete assembly may cause poor operation or leakage. For IF, insert the lint filter rather than repeatedly restarting. The manual's cold-climate instructions mention OE during a thawing procedure, but pouring hot water into the appliance has scalding and overflow cautions and should be followed only exactly as written. The ThinQ app can provide status or diagnostic assistance, yet the article keeps the front-panel labels, routine maintenance reminders and app features separate so the user can identify what the dryer itself has actually reported.
