MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: LG DLEX9900B
The LG SIGNATURE DLEX9900B is a 9.0-cu-ft black electric touch-LCD dryer with genuine sensor, power and duct messages documented on its exact support-linked owner manual.
A distinct LG SIGNATURE electric dryer
The DLEX9900B is the brushed black steel electric version of LG's SIGNATURE 9900 dryer, with a 9.0-cubic-foot drum. The official specification groups it with a platinum-steel electric version and two gas versions, but its own model and UPC identify the black electric unit. At 29 inches wide it occupies a different footprint from the smaller rear-control DLEX8600BE. The 9900 specification lists a 240-volt electric supply and four-way venting; the gas connection and burner instructions in the shared manual belong to DLGX9901 models. Check the electric installation requirements before making a diagnosis from any voltage message.
The linked owner manual covers the DL*X990** family. Its rendered control drawing matches the full touch LCD shown on the exact-model specification: Power and Start/Pause flank the display, and cycle names are selected by swiping rather than rotating a dial. Cycle View opens the complete list; Settings changes compatible options before a cycle starts. The screen presents settings, estimated time and status messages. A Flow Sense symbol signals restricted exhaust, while Remote Start and Wi-Fi symbols describe connected operating states. Distinguishing those icons from actual error messages prevents a normal network or remote-control state from being mistaken for a fault.
Choosing among 25 programs
LG lists 25 drying programs and 15 options for the DLEX9900B. The initial menu includes Normal for ordinary cotton or mixed loads, AI Dry for adjusting time and temperature to sensed load characteristics, Bedding for bulky items, and Delicates for fragile fabrics. Quick Dry is intended for a small load. Timed Dry is more direct: choose between 10 and 100 minutes in five-minute increments, with temperature adjustments available. These programs address different fabrics and load sizes, so an unusually long cycle is not by itself evidence of a defective sensor. Consult the care label and the selected dryness level before interpreting the remaining-time estimate.
Cycle List Edit exposes choices beyond the initial menu. Small Load covers up to three items; Large Load targets a half load and XL Load a full load. Overnight Dry is an efficient small-load cycle, while Rack Dry is designed for items that should lie flat on an installed rack. Blanket Refresh warms and fluffs blankets, Easy Ironing leaves fabric slightly damp, and Low Temp Dry trades heat for lower energy use. The exact specification also lists TurboSteam. Steam Fresh quickly reduces wrinkles and odors in dry clothes; Steam Sanitary uses steam and high heat. The manual excludes some foam, down, wool, leather and delicate items from particular steam cycles. It also says TurboSteam and Energy Saver cannot be combined.
Messages on this touch display
The operating troubleshooting table on rendered page 52 prints actual LCD wording. “Temp sensor error 1” means a temperature-sensor failure; LG directs the owner to switch off the dryer and contact service. “Power supply,” “Power issue,” “High voltage” and “Low voltage” are grouped under an incorrectly connected power cord in that table. An electrician or qualified installer should check the electric connection and terminal block. This is not a gas-supply indication for DLEX9900B. During the installation test, page 30 separately lists “Humidity sensor error” and directs service. The same table calls “Door open” a reason to close the door and restart the installation mode, rather than evidence of a failed door sensor.
“Duct blockage (80%), (90%), (95%)” describes increasingly severe exhaust restriction. LG says not to use the dryer until a severely restricted route is cleaned or repaired, because continued operation presents fire and property risks. Inspect the outside hood and the full run for lint, bends and excessive length. During ordinary drying, four Flow Sense bars can indicate a partial restriction even if the appliance still operates; drying takes longer and uses more energy. A cleared duct may need several consecutive cycles before the indicator resets. If it stays active for more than five cycles after the restriction is removed, the manual directs the owner to service. Record the exact text or percentage before calling.
Installation checks and ongoing care
The 9900 touchscreen has a distinctive installation-test shortcut: with an empty, cool machine, turn it on and touch the display's upper-left corner ten times within five seconds, then select Install Mode and press Start/Pause. “Install Mode” and the eventual “Done” are expected test states, not fault codes. The separate electric heating check uses Timed Dry and looks for warm exhaust after three minutes. The installation test can differ from a normal drying cycle because the latter samples the home's vent condition more accurately. If the test flags airflow, investigate the duct rather than repeatedly restarting the display.
Before every load, clear and reinstall the lint filter; the manual warns that a loose or missing filter can damage the dryer and garments. Inspect ductwork for lint monthly and clean it at least annually, sooner if airflow or drying performance drops. The 9.0-cubic-foot capacity allows bulky loads, but the manual still warns against overloading because garments need room to tumble. ThinQ can monitor cycles and provide Smart Diagnosis, yet the touch LCD and printed page-52 messages are the primary reference when an alert appears. Keep the model suffix and exact message together when requesting service; neither the gas-only instructions nor code lists from a different LG dryer should substitute for this manual.
