MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: GE SCB1000MWW
SCB1000MWW is a white-on-white GE Profile Advantium for a 27-inch cabinet and 120-V supply, with 1.60-cu-ft cavity and 975-W microwave. Its official SCB1000 guide explains SENSOR ERROR.
Identify the white 27-inch built-in appliance
SCB1000MWW is a white-on-white GE Profile Advantium wall oven made for a 27-inch cabinet. It occupies one 1.60-cubic-foot cooking cavity and GE specifies 120-V, 60-Hz input. The 2008 official manual cover groups SCB1000 with SCB1001, whereas GE's exact product record supplies the MWW finish suffix. Do not use an attractive photo of a black or stainless version to choose the white trim or handle. A dial, glass-touch keys and scrolling electronic display control the model. The exact GE page lists more than 175 programmed recipes, a saved-recipe function, child lock and four beeper-volume levels. The display can even be turned off while the unit remains connected, so a dark clock is not by itself proof of lost supply. For a parts request, give SCB1000MWW and confirm the physical nameplate; the 27-inch cabinet and 120-V facts can also help prevent a poor fit or wrong electrical assumption when replacing an older built-in oven.
Use the correct tray for each heating method
This Advantium brings together Speedcook, Convection Bake, Broil, Microwave and Warm/Proof. Its microwave section is rated 975 watts. The exact GE listing names Beverage, Popcorn, Reheat and Soften/Melt sensor controls, rather than every preset pictured across the shared owner's family. GE lists a 16-inch turntable plus non-stick Speedcook tray, convection tray, ceramic pan and wire rack. For a Speedcook preset, the guide places food on the non-stick metal tray; the program can prompt for food category, size or doneness and may display OPTIMIZING COOK TIME while adjusting for measured voltage. Conventional microwave operation instead uses the clear glass tray on the turntable with safe cookware. The metal Speedcook pan and wire rack should not be treated as universal microwave supports. A cold meal after a program may reflect a wrong menu, portion or accessory. Back allows an incorrect menu selection to be changed before the run. In cooking notes, record which tray and program were chosen rather than saying simply that Advantium was used.
Watch how a sensor program reaches countdown
Sensor cooking measures increasing humidity and adapts duration. The first part of the cycle does not present a countdown immediately. On physical page 27, the manual asks the user to leave the door closed until the countdown appears; opening during SENSOR Cooking makes SENSOR ERROR appear. Close the door and press START/PAUSE to continue after such an interruption. If a meal needs longer after a sensor cycle, use COOK BY TIME instead of putting the same portion through sensor again. The manual warns that repeated sensor use on one portion can badly overcook it. A hot cavity following Speedcook may also make the oven switch to timed cooking because it is too hot for sensor operation. That is a separate operating limit, not a part diagnosis. Note whether the door moved, whether the countdown began and whether the cavity had just been used for Speedcook. This timing distinguishes the sensor alert from the ordinary PAUSE display used during other kinds of cooking.
Check food choice and venting after an alert
A separate physical page 33 lists SENSOR ERROR with an oven signal if the selected food type or amount does not correspond to what was placed in the oven. Press CLEAR/OFF and program the actual food or liquid. The same row says steam may not be sensed when the wrapping is unvented, a lid too tight or a liquid covered. Use vented plastic wrap, a looser lid or an uncovered liquid. Sensor guidance also calls for dry vessel exteriors because beads of water turning to steam can mislead the response; beverages are best uncovered. Early door opening, mismatched food and trapped steam are three different things to check before describing the sensor itself as failed. If the error continues under a suitable, uninterrupted program, send service the full SCB1000MWW suffix, selected preset, portion, cover, tray and exact message. That information lets the repairer focus on a persistent fault rather than a preventable setup condition.
