MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: GE PHS930YPFS
The GE Profile PHS930YPFS is a front-control induction range with synchronized elements, Precision Cooking and a documented F oven-error display.
Confirm the exact induction panel and software conditions
PHS930YPFS is the GE Profile 30-inch front-control induction and convection range, with a 5.3-cubic-foot oven and a soft-close storage drawer. Its exact GE page links a bilingual owner manual whose cover names the PHS930 and PHS93E induction families. The panel on physical page thirteen shows Glide Touch cooking controls, an oven display, Convection Bake, Conv Roast, Air Fry, Self/Steam Clean and Lock Controls. Exact PHS930YPFS specifications confirm induction, True Convection with Precise Air, the lock, WiFi and both cleaning modes. The page also says that WiFi Connect is needed to enable Convect Roast and Air Fry; those buttons should not be promised as ready without software setup. The official product lists these two modes among WiFi-enabled features. This source match limits the following advice to a PHS930-equipped panel rather than treating every feature on the family cover as universal. The front layout is also unlike a radiant glass range whose heating coils glow under the surface.
Select compatible pans and synchronize the left elements
Induction transfers energy into a suitable pan through a magnetic field. Test the bottom with a magnet and use flat, sufficiently wide ferrous cookware; the coil may not detect a tiny or badly centered vessel. The manual says power to that element stops after more than thirty seconds with the pan absent or off center. Front right is an 11-inch, 3,700-watt Power Boil position. The two left 8-inch, 2,500-watt elements can be linked with Sync Burners so a griddle spans them; right rear is a 6-inch, 1,800-watt element. Slide a finger along the gray arc or use plus and minus to set power. The center 100-watt Warming Zone is different: it is not induction and can use a flat nonferrous vessel. It holds already hot food rather than bringing cold food up to temperature, and the guide limits holding to two hours. Cancel/Off for the oven does not turn off that zone. Although induction does not heat the glass directly, a hot pan leaves residual heat, so treat the surface as hot after cooking.
Understand Precision Cooking and its one-burner message
Precision Cooking uses a paired compatible Bluetooth probe or cookware to hold a chosen cooktop temperature. Pair the accessory first, select Precision Cooking on an induction position and then activate the device according to its instructions. The manual permits just one burner in this mode at a time. If a second Precision Cooking session is attempted, the existing control flashes and a one-burner-at-a-time message appears on the display; that state calls for ending the first session rather than replacing an oven control board. The official product also lists cooktop Sous-Vide as a WiFi-enabled feature, so availability depends on the connected setup and suitable precision accessory. If a pan will not heat at all, first check magnetic compatibility, pan position and minimum size before interpreting sounds or a message as an electronics fault. A hum or buzz can vary with cookware and power level. The warming zone is outside this precision induction system and cannot be used as a second precision burner.
Use the oven modes and cleaning systems
The oven uses True Convection with Precise Air, a hidden bake element and three heavy-duty racks at six possible heights. Convection Bake is available on the pictured panel and normally requires preheating; Auto Recipe Conversion adjusts recipe temperature for that mode. Convection Roast is designed for a whole cut on one rack and may finish browning sooner, but the manual explicitly asks for WiFi Connect before that feature is enabled. The same condition applies to no-preheat Air Fry, which is intended for a single rack and a 300–500°F setting. A normal Bake or Broil command remains a separate choice if a connected option is unavailable. The meat probe is specified for the exact model; check its reading rather than relying only on elapsed time. For cavity care, Steam Clean addresses smaller residue with water while Self-Clean uses much hotter conditions. GE says its dark, self-clean-rated racks may remain, whereas other items should be removed. The soft-close drawer stores cookware; it does not add another oven or induction coil.
Separate F, door locking and ordinary states
The troubleshooting table on page thirty-two treats F with a number or letter as an oven function error. Press Cancel/Off, let the cavity cool for one hour and try again. If F returns, cut all power to the oven for at least thirty seconds, reconnect and note whether the whole code recurs. Repetition then warrants service; the table does not identify a specific failed component from an unspecified suffix. DOOR LOCKING flashing indicates Self-Clean was selected with the door open. Close it before starting. DOOR LOCKED remaining on after cleaning means the cavity may still be above the unlocking temperature; press Cancel/Off and wait without forcing the latch. Lock Controls is a user-set panel state, released by holding its key three seconds, and a flashing clock after an outage needs resetting. The Precision Cooking one-burner message concerns the cooktop, not an F oven fault. Distinguishing these three displays prevents the owner from confusing setup, cooling and a genuine control error.
