MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: GE LVM1750SPSS
GE LVM1750SPSS is a stainless-appearance 1.7-cu-ft, 1000W over-range microwave with black case, bilingual scrolling display, six Cook codes and 300-CFM hood. Its 2011 guide explains Popcorn SENSOR ERROR.
Stainless appearance around a traditional microwave
The exact LVM1750SPSS has a stainless-appearance door, a black case and a 1.70-cubic-foot microwave cavity with 1000-watt output. Its glass turntable is recessed and measures 11.5 inches. GE lists a 300-CFM hood with high and low fan settings plus off, and describes this SKU as externally vented. The JX81J charcoal kit is included for optional conversion if a kitchen must return air to the room; the kit's presence does not tell an owner how the appliance was installed. Two incandescent bulbs illuminate the cooktop below. A bilingual scrolling vacuum fluorescent display and four sound levels make the control more configurable than an entry-level time dial. The cover of the linked 2011 owner guide groups LVM1750 with JVM1750, JVM1752 and HVM1750, leaving off the SPSS retail ending. Its exact GE product page supplies the link that establishes this guide as applicable to the stainless-appearance variant.
Why the two six-choice menus are different
LVM1750SPSS offers two lists of six choices that should not be confused. Snacks sets time and power from a selected category and number or weight; the manual lists rolls, sandwiches, leftover pizza, dessert toppings, soup and cheese dip. Cook is a sensor menu of six food types and waits for humidity released by the food. Vegetable additionally has separate fresh, frozen and canned settings. Auto Defrost is intended for meat, poultry or fish up to six pounds, while Time Defrost suits many other frozen foods. Time Cook II can run a second programmed interval at a changed power level. The exact model also lists Demo Mode; a user checking why food did not heat should establish whether this demonstration setting was selected before inferring a failed magnetron. The 24-hour Reminder behaves as an alarm independent of cooking, and Delay Start can postpone a timed program for up to the same interval. Scroll speed has five choices, so a slow display is configurable.
The Popcorn door event behind SENSOR ERROR
A concrete SENSOR ERROR example is printed on page twenty-three: opening the door while POPCORN is still shown triggers that wording. The Popcorn setting assumes a commercial bag weighing three to three-and-a-half ounces. Close the door, press Clear/Off and begin again with the appropriate bag; use Time Cook when the package falls outside that range. The troubleshooting chart also says the message can follow a sensor cycle where steam does not arrive by the maximum time. During sensor cooking, leave the door closed until the remaining time starts counting down. A microwave-safe vented cover and dry container outside help humidity reach the detector. Do not run the entire sensor mode twice on one portion, since severe overcooking can result; add specific Time Cook minutes if food is still cold. The display describes the course of a steam-reading program, not proof that its electronics must be replaced.
Routine status and ventilation behavior
Several other outputs are routine rather than fault codes. After cooking, FOOD IS READY can remain on the display and beep once a minute until the door opens or Clear/Off is pressed. When excessive heat rises from the burners, the vent fan can turn on automatically at low speed and continue until internal parts cool; pressing the fan key may not stop it immediately. The product lists two rack positions for reheating multiple dishes, but sensor cooking and Popcorn require removing the shelf. A shelf must not sit on the oven floor, where arcing is possible. A separate child lock can make the keys inactive, and the display's clock can be switched off without cutting electrical power. When help is needed, record whether the appliance heated, which of the six-choice menus was active, the food weight, the exact screen text and any door opening during the initial steam stage.
