MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: GE GDT670SYVFS

GE GDT670SYVFS is a fingerprint-resistant stainless top-control dishwasher with a removable third-rack caddy, four bottle jets, five cycles and a source-confirmed LEAK DETECTED warning.

A distinct fingerprint-resistant GDT670 layout

GDT670SYVFS has a fingerprint-resistant stainless-colored exterior and eight touchpads along the upper door edge. The exact GE page assigns a three-digit countdown and bi-color door LED, sixteen place settings, a smooth-gliding height-adjustable upper rack and a full third rack with a removable silverware caddy. Beneath that tray, GE specifies forty dedicated jets directed up into the silverware basket. Four bottle-wash jets tackle narrow tall items in the upper area. This arrangement is more specific than a generic “three rack dishwasher”: the caddy can be removed for unusual utensils and the deep-clean jets target another part of the load. The owner PDF cover includes the GD*640–670 series; its physical page six explicitly labels the GDT670 control drawing. Adjacent drawings are for GDT640 and Profile panels, so their buttons should not be inferred from the shared booklet. The exact product listing is needed for the FS finish and its options.

Five cycles, targeted jets and optional connectivity

GE lists five base cycles here: AutoSense, Heavy Wash, Normal Wash, One Hour Wash and Rinse. The one-hour mode is intended for lightly soiled dishes; choosing Dry Boost may extend drying beyond the nominal wash hour. Bottle Jets are a selectable option and can add as much as twenty-three minutes, rather than being a sixth cycle. Upper-only and lower-only zones serve a load placed in just one rack, while Steam plus Sani is an NSF 184 certified option when sanitizing conditions are actually met. Dry Boost can be Off, Normal or High, letting a user trade drying performance against time. The exact page rates operating noise at 45 dBA and offers WiFi only through an optional separately sold module. An app symbol from another panel is therefore not proof of built-in WiFi on GDT670SYVFS. Ordinary wet plastics, longer duration or a missing sanitization light call for cycle and option review, not an invented numeric fault code.

When the written leak warning stops a cycle

The exact GDT670SYVFS page lists Active Flood Protect and explicitly describes its water leak detector. That matters because the linked family manual says only “some models” have leak detection. Its page twenty-three, under a dishwasher that will not run, says a possible leak cancels the cycle, writes LEAK DETECTED on the display and requires service. The drawing on page six establishes that GDT670 is one of the screen-equipped panels in this document. Read the written words before deciding what happened: a paused wash, door reminder beep or Clean completion lamp does not carry the same meaning. The alert does not name a cracked hose, stuck float or failed control board. Record the exact message and the preceding cycle, avoid repeated restarts and contact GE. A separate troubleshooting row concerns water standing in the tub because an air gap is clogged; that symptom alone should not be mislabeled as LEAK DETECTED.

Start timing, FS door care and filters

For a normal start, the newer GDT670 guide gives four seconds between pressing Start and closing the door. Holding Start to cancel has a different purpose and makes the dishwasher drain, so using that control unintentionally can resemble an interrupted wash. The FS ending of GDT670SYVFS also affects care. Page nineteen classifies FS fingerprint-resistant stainless as a coated door panel and explicitly says not to apply stainless-steel cleaner to that surface. A soft, lightly damp cloth followed by drying is the relevant exterior instruction; the inner tub and door liner are actual stainless steel. The removable filter beside the Piranha disposer should be inspected about every other month according to page twenty, especially if dishes feel gritty or cleaning falls off. Filter maintenance can address ordinary wash quality. It is not a replacement for service when the display spells out a possible leak.
