MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: Bosch SPV68C73UC

SPV68C73UC: 18-inch custom-panel Bosch with ten verified signals, including the printed E:6103 row.

Plan the narrow custom-panel installation

SPV68C73UC is Bosch’s 800 Series, 18-inch custom-panel dishwasher for a narrow kitchen opening. Its specification calls the model ADA compliant and gives actual appliance dimensions of 32 1/16 by 17 5/8 by 21 5/8 inches; the required cutout is larger, so those two measurements must not be interchanged when planning cabinetry. A supplied decorative front is not part of the stainless tub: the installer fits a matching furniture panel. Despite the narrow footprint, the specification lists ten place settings, a standard third rack, RackMatic upper-rack adjustment and 44 dBA operation. The exact owner cover names SPV68C73UC. Those details matter when a search result for another Bosch 800 Series machine has a 24-inch body or different rack capacity.

Choose cycles on a concealed control panel

The specification names Heavy, Auto, Normal, Favorite, Express and Delicate among the six control-panel cycles. Heavy addresses baked-on deposits, while the owner describes Auto as responding to the condition of the wash water. Normal is the cycle underlying the Energy Guide test; the consumption figures printed for individual cycles are ranges rather than a promise for every load. Favorite can hold a selected cycle-and-option combination, and the manual says its initial assignment is a pre-rinse. Home Connect adds connected control, but Remote Start depends on the machine’s network setup and is deactivated if the door is opened. The exact specification also lists InfoLight, which helps identify operation on a custom-panel machine with its controls hidden at the top edge.

Keep CrystalDry's Zeolite path open

CrystalDry uses the Zeolite container described in this owner manual. The narrow cabinet does not change the need to leave the container’s intake and outlet clear: the manual explicitly warns against positioning dishes directly in front of them, and it places a separate warning on heat-sensitive items at the outlet. E:21-30 is the fault-table entry for dishware covering the intake, so rearranging that load is more relevant than assuming the heater has failed. A different heating message, E:20-60, says the heating element is calcified and directs descaling. The same table adds water-softening advice with a footnote that it depends on appliance specification. SPV68C73UC’s own spec says “Water softener No,” so owners should not look for a built-in softener setting or salt reservoir on this SKU.

Separate supply restriction from water protection

Four water-related messages on pages 37–38 deserve different responses. E:30-00 and E:31-00 both mean that water protection has activated; Bosch directs the owner to close the supply valve and contact customer service. E:34-00 reports water continuously entering the machine and calls for the same valve-and-service response. E:32-00 instead starts with a closed water-supply valve and may accompany the separate water-supply indicator. The table also discusses a kinked inlet hose, restricted supply and a clogged valve; it says that an open supply should provide at least 10 liters per minute. After opening the valve, the documented sequence is to terminate and restart the cycle, then seek service if the condition recurs. Treating every water code as a simple reset would hide the important difference between inlet restriction and protective shutdown.

Read the drain rows exactly as printed

The drain section makes an even sharper distinction. E:61-02 is explicitly “not an appliance error”; the owner points to a loose drain-pump cover or a foreign object blocking the pump and says the cover should click into place after cleaning. The next row is printed as E:6103, without the hyphen often seen in Bosch code lists. That exact spelling appears on both pages 38 and 39 of this edition, so a site should retain it rather than silently inventing a corrected display string. Bosch again says it is not an appliance defect. Its possible causes span a garbage-disposal knockout plug still in place, a kinked drain hose, a loose or obstructed pump cover, and a missing high loop that lets debris return to the hose. Checking the actual drain installation narrows the issue more usefully than replacing electronic parts.

Check voltage and filters before escalating

E:90-01 belongs to the electrical supply, not the dishwasher: the table says voltage is too low and instructs the owner to have an electrician check the installation. E:92-40 means the filters are soiled or blocked. For that signal, the maintenance chapter shows a micro, fine and coarse filter assembly, recommends checking for residue after each wash, rinsing the elements under running water, and locking the reassembled system with its arrow marks aligned. It separately shows how to clear spray-arm nozzles. If a different code appears, page 39 gives a general power-off sequence with at least a two-minute wait and says to record the code for customer service if it returns. Keep the full displayed characters and the model’s E-number available when contacting Bosch; a generic code range is not a diagnosis of an unlisted fault.
