MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: Bosch SHX78B75UC

Bosch SHX78B75UC 800 Series: exact E-code meanings, Zeolite drying, water softener and top-control guidance.

Verify the 800 Series top-control machine

Bosch's exact SHX78B75UC listing describes an 800 Series, top-control dishwasher with fifteen place settings, a stainless-steel tub and a published 42 dBA rating. Its body measures 34 1/16 inches high, 23 9/16 wide and 22 9/16 deep; the cutout and hose space should be checked separately during installation. The product includes a flexible third rack, CrystalDry/PureDry, a water softener and Home Connect. A red InfoLight projects a status cue because the controls sit on the door's top edge. The support page for SHX78B75UC/01 embeds a user-manual PDF whose cover prints SHX78B75UC exactly. On page 14, that manual draws a numeric display for remaining time and settings; page 15 identifies a separate water-supply indicator. These physical cues matter because a Bosch with only duration LEDs requires a different fault interpretation. Record the full E-number suffix and actual display characters before using any code table.

Protect its Zeolite airflow and read drying codes

CrystalDry's Zeolite mineral takes up moisture and releases heat during the drying phase, with air circulating through a dedicated intake and outlet. Page 13 identifies those openings in the machine drawing. Do not lean a tray or pan directly against them; the manual also warns against heat-sensitive pieces in front of the outlet. That construction gives E:21-30 an unusually specific meaning: dishes are covering the Zeolite intake. Rearrange the load so that air can enter, instead of declaring the dryer broken. A different code, E:20-60, says the heating element is calcified. Bosch directs descaling and, where fitted, operating the water softening system; this exact product lists a softener. AquaSensor is separate from both drying problems: it measures wash-water turbidity and can alter Auto's rinse water and duration. Its SE:00–SE:02 sensitivity settings are ordinary configuration values, not error codes. Distinguishing mineral maintenance, blocked airflow and soil sensing prevents a normal settings display from being mistaken for a failure.

Use racks and wash programs for their intended loads

The flexible third rack has wings that lower to accommodate deeper utensils; the silverware drawer section also describes folding side shelves and tines. Adjust the upper rack evenly with RackMatic so both sides click into the same height. Large dishes under a tilted rack can block spray movement even when the selected cycle is suitable. The manual's Heavy cycle addresses burned or dried starch and protein on robust cookware. Auto responds to detected soil, Normal is the economical daily reference, while Express is listed at thirty minutes for lightly dirty delicate pieces. Machine Care is for an unloaded tub. Extra Scrub increases pressure in the lower rack and holds the maximum temperature longer, so it is more relevant to soiled pans below than to fragile items above. Document the chosen rack positions and options if cleaning disappoints. A cycle's displayed duration varies with inlet temperature, load, soil and extras; a changed countdown alone does not identify an E-code.

Set hardness, rinse aid and care before replacing parts

This model's built-in softener has H:00–H:07 hardness choices. Set it from a local water-hardness measurement, use only special dishwasher salt in its dispenser and do not pour detergent into that chamber. A salt refill lamp is a maintenance prompt. Rinse aid has a separate r:05 factory level; increasing or decreasing its dose can address water spots or streaks, while CrystalDry still needs an unobstructed air path. E:92-40 points to soiled or blocked filters rather than the Zeolite container. Page 44 describes a micro, fine and coarse filter system: remove the assembly and rinse the components, then seat it correctly. Descaling for E:20-60 and filter cleaning for E:92-40 are different jobs, despite both relating to maintenance. Before service, note the hardness value, salt and rinse-aid indicators, recent descaling, and whether the error persists after the documented care. These details explain much more than saying that the machine no longer dries.

Respond to water, drain and electrical codes separately

The water and electrical rows require different first actions. E:30-00 or E:31-00 means the water-protection system is active: close the water valve and contact customer service. E:32-00, or the water-supply indicator, directs attention to a closed valve, kinked inlet or inadequate flow. E:34-00 reports water continuously entering, for which Bosch again says close the valve and call service. E:61-02 concerns a loose drain-pump cover or obstruction; E:61-03 points to a disposal knockout plug, bent drain hose, pump cover or missing high loop when water will not drain. These two are explicitly described as not necessarily appliance faults. E:90-01 is low mains voltage, and the manual calls for an electrician rather than a dishwasher component. For an unfamiliar E-code the PDF gives a two-minute power-disconnection route, then water shutoff and service if it returns. Copy the exact hyphenated code before resetting so the inlet, drain and household-supply cases remain distinguishable.
