MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: Bosch SHP65CM5N
Bosch SHP65CM5N: exact AutoAir model with steady and flashing four-LED diagnostics.
Identify the pocket-handle installation
The SHP65CM5N is a Bosch dishwasher with an anti-fingerprint stainless front and a pocket handle. It is a conventional built-under unit rather than a cabinet-panel model. The exact product lists a 33 7/8-inch height, 23 9/16-inch width and 23 3/4-inch depth, sixteen place settings and 44 dBA. That combination matters when measuring a replacement: a decorative door panel ordered for a different Bosch will not fit this finished front. A red InfoLight appears on the floor during operation. The owner PDF names SHP65CM5N on its cover, and its control drawing explains which lights belong to cycle progress. Record the full model and service suffix before ordering trim. Do not assume a dark floor light means no power until the door controls and cycle status are checked.
Check AutoAir before treating the door as broken
AutoAir is the defining drying hardware of this SKU: the door can open automatically during the drying phase. The Heavy, Auto, Normal, Speed 60 and Favorite programs do different jobs; Favorite saves a combination through Home Connect. Sanitize increases the heated treatment, while the product also lists EfficientDry and Remote Start. If the door does not open at the end, the manual first points to the AutoAir setting, door adjustment and dirty seal. The specified door gap is 70 to 120 millimeters, and screws longer than the supplied 4X30 size may disable the opening mechanism. A door opening too far calls for alignment rather than an electronic reset. Protect the anti-fingerprint finish with a damp cloth; the manual expressly advises against stainless polish. None of these door symptoms is the four-LED fault pattern.
Read the small LEDs in context
The control illustration labels the remaining-time indicators, WLAN lamp, rinse-aid refill light, Sanitize result and Clean light. Those four vertically arranged duration/Clean lamps later form the diagnostic pattern. A steady Clean lamp after a finished program, one rinse-aid reminder, and four lamps together are different observations. Home Connect sets the time delay in this version; a delayed start in the app need not mean the start switch failed. The red InfoLight remains visible on the floor while washing and disappears when the program ends. RackMatic can raise the upper basket evenly, and the cutlery drawer folds to fit longer utensils, so loading choices affect wash results. Rinse-aid dosage uses zero to three LEDs in settings. Photograph the entire illuminated group before changing it.
Trace a steady four-light pattern
When all four vertical cycle-duration and Clean LEDs shine steadily at once, Bosch's table lists several water-path checks. A disposal knockout plug left in place, a kinked drain hose or a loose pump cover can stop discharge. The inlet side can also be responsible: a closed tap, bent supply hose or clogged AquaStop connection filter is included in the same steady-light row. Do not label this pattern as one precise E number or promise a single failed part. Follow the manual's isolation sequence before undoing a water fitting: switch off, unplug, close the faucet, clean the accessible filter and check for leaks after reassembly. This differs from ordinary program-complete illumination. Note whether the four lights are all steady together and whether water remains in the tub.
Respond to flashing lights and routine maintenance
Four vertical lights flashing together signal a technical issue in the linked manual, rather than the steady water-path checklist. Bosch instructs switching off, disconnecting power for at least two minutes and trying again. If the pattern returns, close the faucet, unplug and contact customer service with the observation. This LED model should not be given invented E:nn-nn meanings taken from another Bosch display. It also has no built-in water softener according to the exact product, so salt-refill advice for other models does not apply. A drying complaint without flashing lights can arise from low rinse aid, an option with a short drying phase or the AutoAir door being unable to move. Separate maintenance and door clearance from the persistent flashing pattern before arranging service.
